Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing video game developed and published by CD Projekt. The story takes place in Night City, an open world set in the Cyberpunk universe. Players assume the first-person perspective of a customisable mercenary known as V, who can acquire skills in hacking and machinery with options for melee and ranged combat. The game was developed using the REDengine 4 by a team of around 500 people, exceeding the number that worked on the studio's previous game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015). CD Projekt launched a new division in Wrocław, Poland, and partnered with Digital Scapes, Nvidia, QLOC, and Jali Research to aid the production. Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith was a consultant, and actor Keanu Reeves has a starring role. The original score was led by Marcin Przybyłowicz, featuring the contributions of several licensed artists.

Gameplay

Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person perspective action role-playing game with a heavy emphasis on story. The game is an open world game set in Night City, an urban sprawl that is a fictional city in Northern California, and the same one featured in the 1988 tabletop roleplaying game Cyberpunk 2020.

The player takes control of a customisable mercenary known as V, who is armed with a range of cybernetic implants and has the ability to make moral choices about how to complete missions. The game features both first-person and third-person perspectives, and it is possible for the player to switch between them at will.

In the third-person perspective, the player has access to a variety of guns, while in the first-person perspective, the player can use V's cybernetic abilities. Weapons can be customized with different attachments, and V has an "omni-tool" that can be used to hack electronic devices.

Graphics

Cyberpunk 2077 features a dynamic day and night cycle which affects the game's inhabitants and their habits; during the nighttime, the player can see any objective lit up, with the beacon marked with a skull icon.

The game features a dynamic weather system that includes rain and fog, and a number of rare occurrences such as sandstorms and earthquakes. CD Projekt are using a new version of the Red engine called Red engine 4.

Information about replayability

The game has both a single-player mode and an online multiplayer mode. Online multiplayer mode is called "Cyberpunk 2077: Online".
