As TikTok continues to take over the world with its videos, Instagram doesn’t want to give up its leading positions. The platform's developers made an announcement that they plan to include full-screen recommended videos in the feed.
The competition with TikTok definitely prompts Instagram to search for new ways to keep its users interested in the content. Because videos are a lot more entertaining and engaging than photos, it’s no surprise that the social media giant wants to improve its video features. Just this year, Instagram included a Remix feature to their Reels to allow users of the app to create videos alongside those posted by others.
According to the tweet posted by the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, the company is all about experimenting with the video format in the upcoming months. The focus of Instagram is on offering ‘full screen, immersive, entertaining, mobile-first video,’ but we have to wait and see what this means. At the moment, the app includes two video features – Reels and IGTV.
