Instagram is heavily promoting its Reels app, which was inspired by the popular short-form, video-sharing TikTok app. The media giant is offering a massive amount of money to users who use the app to create content. Back in July this year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a bonus program for Reels and promised to pay creators $1 billion through the following year.
How Much Can Creators Get?
According to TechCrunch and Business Insider reports, Instagram introduced a bonus system for authors and offered them to follow statistics to get the maximum payouts. TechCrunch also shared a post from Reddit where a person was offered $35,000 if the videos on Reels will receive 58.31 million views in one month.
However, less popular authors received much smaller bonus offers. For example, Maddy Corbin, a content creator with 52,000 followers, received a $1,000 offer, but she said that others received an offer between $600 and $800. Over time, bonuses began to grow, and another Instagram creator with 24,000 subscribers was offered $8,500 with monthly statistics of 9.28 million views.
How Do Other Companies Motivate Users?
There is as yet no precise criterion for the ratio of bonus sum to views statistics. Instagram is still testing the format and is in the early stages of developing a bonus system. The social network also stated that it foresaw hesitation on the part of the authors in the framework of testing payments.
Other platforms, such as Snapchat and YouTube, have their ways of stimulating users. Snapchat recently announced Spotlight Challenges with a wide number of prizes. The prize funds for the contest range from $1,000 to $25,000. YouTube, in turn, is willing to pay $10,000 to its users for popular videos. What do you think of the Instagram offer for Reels creators?
